Themes
The course content is divided into 5 themes. Within each theme, relevant numerical methods are introduced in the context of a particular application. There will typically be one lecture and one assisted computer lab for each theme. The lab reports are not required to be extensive; in this course, the focus should be on the implementation and understanding of the material, and not on the reporting.
Each theme consists of two parts. Part I introduces the theme and will be posted below (Monday) the day before the lecture dealing with the theme. Part I contains some preparatory exercises that should be completed before the lab. Part II comprises the computer exercises and will be handed out, together with an answer sheet, at the lab (Thursday).
The final deadline for all themes this year is December 17. Each "almost" correct solution handed in before deadline yields bonus points at the final exam, provided that possible corrections are made before the final deadline.
