Themes

The course content is divided into 5 themes. Within each theme, relevant numerical methods are introduced in the context of a particular application. There will typically be one lecture and one assisted computer lab for each theme. The lab reports are not required to be extensive; in this course, the focus should be on the implementation and understanding of the material, and not on the reporting.

Each theme consists of two parts and will be posted below after the lecture associated with the theme. Part I introduces the theme and contains some preparatory exercises that should be completed before the lab. Part II comprises the computer exercises. The result of the preparatory and computer exercises should be reported on the separate answer sheet provided below.

The final deadline for all themes this year is December 21. Each "almost" correct solution handed in before deadline yields bonus points at the final exam, provided that possible corrections are made before the final deadline.
