Lecture 9

In this lecture, we will discuss applications of Service-Oriented Architecture designs and technology. We will introduce the concept of Grid Computing, a new computing paradigm focused on service availability and resource transparency that makes extensive use of SOA technologies. We will discuss applications and infrastructure in terms of High Performance Computing (HPC) and High Throughput Computing (HTC), which are examples of Grid Computing areas where service-based infrastructures have been used in efforts to realize the Grid Computing vision. Finally, we will give brief introductions to some SOA-based softwares within the fields to examplify the technologies discussed in the course.
