Project phase 4

Introduction

The very last phase of the project is to finalize the project report. The report must cover all the parts of phase two and three (except the seminars of course).

Incorporate the work analysis report into your final report according to the outline below.

Suggested outline (note: This is not a report template, it should only be used as an outline for the content of the report. The groups choose relevant headlines for their reports. Also note that the numbering of sections should start with the introductory section and not with the summary.)

  • Summary (extended abstract, including both phases)
  • Table of contents and page numbering
  • Short introduction to the contents and an outline of the report with a background introducing the organization, and the purpose of the project
  • Phase 2: Activity analysis and literature study (synthesize the results from the two!):
    • Introduction, aims, issues to investigate/solve, short description of the user contexts in focus
    • Data gathering methods (motivate your choices)
    • Procedure (motivate your choices)
    • Material and subjects (inclusion criteria for subjects)
    • Results structured by themes, NOT by theory or chosen methods! (NOT as follows: Results from interviews; Results from observations; Results from Activity theory , etc.)
    • Discuss: choices of methods, procedure (i.e., your own role in the data gathering) , results, how the theories could be applied, comparisons, etc. The goal for this part of the report would be to identify, account for and discuss all potential weaknesses and strengths with your study that will be in focus during the peer-review.
    • Conclusions of the literature study and the work analysis, will serve as a specification for designs (next item).
  • Design propositions
    • Prototypes
  • Phase 3: Evaluation of design propositions and suggestions for redesign
    • Background/ description of designs to be evaluated
    • Evalutation methods (motivations of choices)
    • Procedure (motivations of choices)
    • Material and subjects (inclusion criteria for subjects)
    • Results structured by themes, NOT by theory or chosen methods!
    • Discuss: choices of methods, procedure (e.g., your own role in data gathering), results, how the theories could be applied, comparisons, etc. The goal for this part is to identify, account for and discuss all potential weaknesses and strengths with your study that others will focus on during the peer-review!
  • Conclusions for Phase 3 and reflections on how the project plan was used
  • Reference list: must follow (CONSISTENTLY!) a standardized format for reference lists and must contain references for methods, theories, and the problem domains of Phase 2 & 3. I recommend the Harvard system of Referencing
  • Appendix: supplementing schemes, interview plans, sketches, etc.

Note1: Start the numbering from the third point above, Introduction, and do not number the Reference list and the Appendix.

Note 2: The outline above is not a suggestion for chapters and sections, but rather suggests what the content should be. Choose headlines that you find appropriate for each section.

Note 3: The phases mentioned above refers to the project phases.

Date: The report is to be handed in no later than Friday, March 25th, 17.00.
