EKF
System for managing work related health and injuries ("Efterfrågestyrd kunskapsutveckling med forskningsgrund" - svensk version nedan)
In order to allow domain experts and end users to contribute with knowledge to a common knowledge repository available for mining and construction workers for monitoring work-related health, a modelling environment is being developed. The flexibility to adjust the knowledge content is achieved using ACKTUS, where the experts in environmental medicine and occupational health can model the content as well as tailor the content and the interaction design to characteristics in the potential end user of a knowledge-based health monitoring system. Environmental factors are integrated in the knowledge content, which allows for the domain expert to tailor the advice about how adjusting the work environment to prevent work-related injuries and diseases. Current focus is on vibration, dust and skin-related topics, but will become extended to other topics in the future.
An initial end user prototype has been developed and evaluated in the construction industry. Currently the system is extended to also support workers in the mining industry.
Research focus is on developing methods, theories and software for collaborative and user-driven knowledge modelling and user-authored interaction design of tailored support systems.
The knowledge to be mediated by the EKF system is currently modeled using the ACKTUS - EKF application. The generated knowledge repository will constitute one resource in a collection of knowledge repositories that can be accessed for reasoning about different topics in a multi-agent framework.

EKF – ”Efterfrågestyrd kunskapsutveckling med forskningsgrund” är ett samarbetsprojekt mellan institutionerna för datavetenskap och yrkes- och miljömedicin, samt bygg- och gruvindustrin.
EKF-projektet syftar till att utveckla ett system som kan användas av olika personer verksamma inom bygg- och gruvindustrin och personer som jobbar med hälsofrågor som relaterar till arbetsmiljön inom bygg- och gruvindustrin. EKF-systemet ska kunna användas för att få mer information om arbetsrelaterad hälsa i allmänhet men även för att få information som är anpassad till personens behov, arbetsmiljö och eventuella besvär som kan relateras till arbetsmiljön.
En prototyp har utvecklats och utvärderats inom byggindustrin, delvis i samarbete med Byggnads i Umeå. Pågående arbete är att vidareutveckla denna med ytterligare material och anpassade applikationer för gruvindustrin. I detta arbete deltar företagshälsovården inom LKAB och Boliden Mineral AB.
EKF är ett samarbetsprojekt mellan institutionen för datavetenskap och institutionen för folkhälsa och klinisk medicin. Projektet pågår under perioden 2010 - 2012.
