Discontinued courses in computer science

This document contains a list of courses that have removed from the curriculum (discontinued) along with information on how to proceed to complete the course within two years after the decision to discontinue the course. When two years have passed, a student who did not finish a course that has been discontinued must take a different course and include it in his/her degree instead.

NOTE: You can never make a new registration on a course that has been discontinued. This information concerns only those who have already been registered on the course but have not successfully completed it.

Transfer of a course or parts of a course are made solely in connection with examination of the other parts of a course and only after a discussion with a study counsellor or a director of studies.

5DV019	Artificial Intelligence (HT10)	The course is cancelled and is replaced by the new courses Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, 5DV121 and Artificial Intelligence - Methods and Applications, 5DV122
Possible credit transfers (Valid until 2013-02-01): If you passed Mom1 (theory) of 5DV019 it is possible to transfer the credits to Mom1 in 5DV121. If you passed Mom2 (assignments) of 5DV019 it is possible to transfer the credits to Mom2 in 5DV121. No credit transfers from 5DV121 to 5DV019 can be made. If you want to have a passed course at the advanced level, it is possible to make an exam according to this: If you want to complete the course 5DV019, the director of studies must be contacted before 15/10 2011 in order to attend an examination in January 2012 or before 15/10 2012 for an examination in January 2013. 5DV021	Principles of Database Systems (HT10)	The course is cancelled and is replaced, in part, by a new course Introduction to Database Management, 5DV119
If you want to complete the course 5DV021, the director of studies must be contacted before 15/4 2011 in order attend an examination in June 2011 or before 15/4 2012 for an examination in June 2012. No further examination opportunities will be provided on the course.
5DV025	Pattern recognition	The course is cancelled and is replaced, in part, by a new course "Project course in machine vision”, 5DV115

5DV053	Intelligent robotics (VT11)	The course is cancelled and is, in part, replaced by the new course Artificial Intelligence - Methods and Applications, 5DV122
The course was offered the last time in 2011 with examinations in June, September 2011 and january 2012. If you want to complete the course 5DV053 after that, the director of studies must be contacted before 15/4 2012 in order attend an examination in June 2012 or before 15/4 2013 for an examination in June 2013. No further examination opportunities will be provided on the course.
5DV084	Artificially Intelligent Behaviour (HT10)	The course is cancelled and is replaced by a new course Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence, 5DV121
Possible credit transfers (Valid until 2013-02-01): If you have not finished any of the moments of 5DV084, we recommend that the you take the course 5DV121 instead. If you passed Mom1 (theory) of 5DV084 and then pass Mom2 (assignments) of 5DV121 it is possible to transfer the credits to Mom2 (assignments) in 5DV084. If you passed Mom2 of 5DV084 and then passes Mom1 (theory) of 5DV121 you can transfer the credits to 5DV084 and thus finish the course 5DV084. No other credit transfers between 5DV084 and 5DV121 can be made.
5DV008	Computer Architecture (HT10)	The course is cancelled and is replaced by a new course "Computer Organization and Architecture" (5DV118) The new course is on advanced level.
Possible credit transfers (Valid until 2013-02-01): If you have not finished any of the moments of 5DV008, we recommend that the you take the course 5DV118 instead. If you passed Mom1 (theory) of 5DV008 and then pass Mom2 (assignments) of 5DV118 it is possible to transfer the credits to Mom2 (assignments) to 5DV008 and thus finish the course 5DV008. => If Mom 2 of 5DV118 is more comprehensive than Mom 2 of 5DV008 (ie, more than 2 labs) and you want to transfer credits to 5DV008 it is sufficient to make the two labs of 5DV118 corresponding to the ones in the course 5DV008 to pass on Mom2 of 5DV008. If you passed Mom2 of 5DV008 and then passes Mom1 (theory) of 5DV118 you can transfer credits Mom2 (lab) to 5DV118 and thus finish the course 5DV118. No other credit transfers between 5DV008 and 5DV118 can be made.
5DV018	Computational Complexity	The course is cancelled and is in parts replaced by a new course "Efficient Algorithms and Problem Complexity" (5DV117)

That part can then be transferred to 5DV009. You can also choose to transfer completed parts of 5DV009 to 5DV111.
5DV014	Matrix Computations and Virtual Spaces (Autumn 09)
Possible course transfers (Valid until 2012-02-01): The courses are equivalent and you complete the course 5DV014 by completing the corresponding part of the course during the examination on 5DA002. That part can then be transferred to 5DV014. You can also choose to transfer completed parts of 5DV014 to 5DA002.
